Body of Missing Baltimore Man Discovered in Liberty Reservoir

A motorist discovered a floating body in the reservoir this morning and alerted Watershed Rangers.

The body of a Baltimore City man missing since Friday was discovered in the Liberty Reservoir Tuesday morning, according to the Carroll County sheriff's office. 

Shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, Baltimore City Watershed Rangers patrolling the Liberty Reservoir were stopped along Route 26 by a motorist who noticed an object floating in the reservoir north of the Liberty Road Bridge, according to police. 

Using the Baltimore County police helicopter, rangers located a partially decomposed body in the water.

Carroll County Sheriff's Deputies and Rescue Dive Teams from the Gamber Volunteer Fire Company were called to remove the body from the water.

The body was recovered and identified by sheriff's detectives as Christopher Anthony White, 44, who was diagnosed with anxiety and was reported missing from Baltimore City by family members Friday, according to a press release.

The large, multi-agency search started after a Maryland state trooper discovered White's car parked unattended along the shoulder on Liberty Road adjacent to the reservoir.

Sheriff’s investigators did not locate any obvious signs of trauma on White’s body, which has been transported to the state medical examiner's office for autopsy, according to the release.

This is the second death in the Liberty Reservoir this year. The on June 19 after his car was found parked near the reservoir several days earlier.
