Carroll County Courthouse Opens Following Morning Bomb Threat

Maryland State Police are investigating a bomb threat at the County's Circuit and District Court facilities Monday morning.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police are investigating a bomb threat that forced the evacuation of the County's Circuit and District Court facilities. 

Around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, 911 officials received an anonymous, non-specific telephone call claiming that an explosive device was left in one of the County Court buildings. 

The Circuit and District Court buildings were evacuated and traffic in the area was stopped for more than three hours as law enforcement officers from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police used explosive detection canine teams to inspect the buildings.

The threat was found to be a hoax and both courts reopened around 1:30 p.m.
