Carroll County Man Arrested For Shooting, Killing Dog (Update 4/26)
Police were called to a Westminster residence on reports that a man was threatening to shoot his dog.
A Westminster man was arrested Monday night after shooting and killing his dog with a rifle, according to the Maryland State Police.
Maryland State Police troopers and the Carroll County Sheriff's Office responded to 2419 Mayberry Road in Westminster at 6:58 p.m. Monday for a report of a civilian threatening to shoot his dog.
The investigation revealed that Henry Byron Zimmerman, 37, from Westminster, used a .223-caliber rifle to shoot his dog. The dog was rushed to the animal medical center in Westminster and was euthanized shortly after.

According to a police report, Zimmerman was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and reckless endangerment.
A State Police representative told Patch that Zimmerman did not provide a reason for shooting the dog. He said that Zimmerman had a fight with his mother and then shot the dog. He said there were several calls to the police from concerned neighbors.
