Carroll County Sheriff's Deputy Taken To Hospital Following Accident

The deputy was not responding to a call for service.

A Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy was transported to Carroll Hospital Center Thursday following a collision on Route 140 in Westminster.

Sergeant Brad Brown, a twenty-year veteran of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was traveling westbound on Route 140 near the intersection of Tyrone Road when his car collided with a 2006 Jeep Liberty.

According to witness statements the driver of the Jeep, Deborah Elaine Donlan, failed to yield to oncoming traffic as she turned the Jeep from southbound Tyrone Road onto eastbound Route 140 when she crossed in front of the deputy’s car.

The deputy was traveling routinely with traffic, not responding to a call for police service. Both operators were transported to Carroll Hospital Center as a precaution. 

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the collision. Charges are pending.
