Columbia Mall Re-Opens, Shooting Victims Memorialized: Read All the Patch Coverage
Civic leaders, police, mall employees and shoppers turned out Monday to remembers two Mall in Columbia workers killed in a weekend shooting.
Sorrow, determination, bewilderment. Myriad emotions continue to grip area residents in the aftermath of Saturday's shooting deaths at The Mall in Columbia.
Skateboard enthusiast Darion Marcus Aguilar, 19, brought a .12-gauge shotgun to the mall, went to the Zumiez store and fatally shot Brianna Benlolo, 21, the store's assistant manager, and Tyler Johnson, 25, a store employee, according to police.
Police said Aguilar turned his shotgun on himself after killing Benlolo, of College Park, and Johnson, of Mount Airy. Police have not determined a motive in the shooting.
