The event, which seeks to educate the community about crime prevention and public safety awareness, will take place Aug. 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Grounds.

This year’s event is a collaboration between the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, according to Ellen Dix, the event’s organizer.

All adults and children will receive a raffle ticket upon entering the event, which they can use to enter drawings and giveaways throughout the night.

Residents can check out several emergency vehicles, including a Korean M.A.S.H. ambulance and a police helicopter.

Businesses will provide free community services and host giveaways at their booths. BGE will shred documents until 8 p.m. Restaurants like Oscar’s Alehouse in Eldersburg will serve up wings and dip and Salerno’s will have its hot crab dip.

Free hotdogs and hamburgers will be served by the fire department. Finish off the night with sweet treats like cookies and cotton candy.
