Explosion Remnants Sent to Bomb Squad for Investigation

State Fire Marshal continues to investigate an explosion in the woods off Will-Anna Drive in Westminster.

The state fire marshal responded to a home on Will-Anna Drive in Westminster Friday morning to investigate remnants from an explosion that happened earlier in the week, according to a statement.

Deputy State Fire Marshal Bruce Bouch told Patch that residents of a home on Will-Anna Drive saw an explosion Tuesday and ventured out Friday and found remnants of a device. A fire marshal visited the scene and collected what debris he could find.

According to Bouch, those remnants were turned over to the bomb squad with hopes that they will be able to determine what kind of device caused the explosion.

"It could have been an illegal firework," Bouch said. "Or it could have been something improvised known as a quarter stick or a home made device. We just don't know at this time."

There were no injuries and no reported damage as a result of the explosion.
