FBI Releases Sykesville Crime Statistics for 2010

The FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program compiles crime data voluntarily submitted by law enforcement agencies across the nation.

Sykesville had two violent crimes and 49 property crimes in 2010, according to data released by the FBI this week.

The statistics unveiled come from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program, which takes data from 18,000 city, university, college, county, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies who voluntarily provide the information on crimes in their coverage areas. The FBI launched the program in 1930.

In 2010, Sykesville had a population of 4,489, had no murders or manslaughters, no forcible rapes, no robberies and two aggravated assaults, according to the report.

Of the 49 property crimes, two were burglaries, 44 were larceny thefts, three were motor vehicle thefts and two were arsons.

In 2009, Sykesville’s population was at 4,444. The town reported 3 violent crimes, including no murders and manslaughters, no forcible rapes, one robbery, and two aggravated assaults.

The town reported 56 property crimes including eight burglaries, 43 larceny thefts, five motor vehicle thefts, and four arsons.
