Former Ravens Star Tased, Arrested After Traffic Incident

Baltimore County police have released this mugshot along with documents that detail resisting arrest and traffic charges filed against former Ravens wide receiver Jermaine Lewis following his alleged erratic driving on Monday.

According to charging documents, police responded on Monday to a 911 call at around at 6:18 p.m. reporting that a white 2006 Dodge Charger with Maryland tags 9EZJ94 was driving erratically in the area of Reisterstown Road and Glyndon Drive headed toward Carroll County.

The caller reported to police that the vehicle was "all over the road."

The documents state that officers used routine registration and drivers license checks to confirm that the driver of the vehicle was 36-year-old Jermaine Edward Lewis, who resides in the 4900 block of Glyndon Drive in Reisterstown. Officers determined that Lewis' drivers license was suspended and revoked.

The 911 caller continued to follow the Charger and told police he saw the vehicle on Old Hanover Road and Piney Grove Road and that the Dodge "almost hit a couple of cars head on."

911 operators told police officers that a witness saw the Dodge Charger turn into the driveway of Lewis' home, and also reported that the vehicle struck the sign of the Boring Volunteer Fire Company at the intersection of Old Hanover Road and Hanover Pike.

When police arrived at Lewis' home, the Dodge Charger was parked in the driveway, and an officer noticed its front end had been damaged. It was missing both its grill and a turn signal.

The officer eventually entered the residence and allegedly found Lewis on the couch with his shorts pulled down to his knees—the police report states that the officer "immediately noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from Lewis," and that his eyes were glassy and bloodshot.

When the officer attempted to arrest Lewis, he was combative, according to the report. The report states that he allegedly refused to get up off the couch and that he told the officer that he was in his home and that he hadn't hurt anyone.

The report states that after Lewis was warned multiple times to get off the couch, the arresting officer deployed a Taser and struck Lewis in the upper torso.

Lewis was finally arrested at 6:32 p.m. and transported to Carroll Hospital Center where he was treated for the Taser injury then transprted to Franklin precinct for booking and processing.

Lewis faces several traffic violations related to the arrest, including:

• Failure of vehicle driver in accident to report property damage to nearest police.
• Failure to stop after unattended property damage accident.
• Failure to notify owner of unattended property of damage.
• Failure to control speed to avoid a collision.
• Driving on a suspended license.
• Driving on a revoked license.

Lewis also faces a criminal charge of resisting arrest. He was committed to the Baltimore County Detention Center and then released on $50,000 bond.
