Home Explosion in Finksburg Sends Three to Hospital

The fire marshal continues to investigate the cause of the explosion.

Deputy State Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of an explosion in a home in the 2000 block of Piedmont Hollow Drive in Finksburg Aug. 16 which injured two adults and a juvenile.

The three were injured when a small explosion occurred inside the home during a family celebration. There appears to have been no criminal involvement in the explosion, however investigators continue to probe its source, according to a news release.

The incident occurred in the first floor dining room and the damage was limited to that area according to the news release.

There was a small fire from the explosion, it was quickly extinguished by residents.

The 43-year-old male homeowner sustained burns to his face and arm and was transported to Bayview Burn Center. A 36-year-old female was treated and released at a local hospital for minor burns to her arm. A 13-year-old female sustained burns to an arm and her eyes and was transported to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Center. All the victims are considered to be in good condition according to the news release.

Deputy State Fire Marshals and members of the State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad are continuing to investigate the cause of the explosion.

Reese, Gamber, Westminster and Reisterstown Fire Departments responded to the scene. The fire was out upon their arrival.
