Police Identify Body Found in Northern Carroll, Death Ruled Homicide

Murder investigation is underway after man found dead near Falls Road.

The body found in northern Carroll County Friday near a field has been identified as a Pennsylvania man, according to Maryland State Police, which reported the death has been ruled a homicide.

Prakash Rampatsingh, 50, of Hanover, PA, died from a gunshot wound, police said.

At 8 a.m. on Friday, Carroll County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the 3200 block of Falls Road in Hampstead for a report of a body found, police said. Officers located the body by a wooded area next to a grain field, according to police, who confirmed the man was dead.

Rampatsingh worked for a property management company in Baltimore, police said, and Falls Road was part of the route he took on his commute. His vehicle was not found in the area, according to the report from police.

A crew working on a cell tower discovered the body Friday morning while walking along the wood line, police said. Detectives do not know when Rampatsingh was last seen alive, according to the report, which stated that his body did not appear to have been there for an extended period of time.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Rampatsingh died from a gunshot wound, according to police.

Authorities were not releasing the location of the gunshot wound, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
