(UPDATED: 4:15 p.m.) House Fire In Downtown Sykesville Causes Road to Close

Fire in downtown Sykesville caused road between Kalorama and Springfield to shut down.

A house fire Monday morning in downtown Sykesville forced officials to shut down Spout Hill Road between Kalorama and Springfield for several hours. 

According to a report for fire officials, an electrical malfunction caused the fire at a Sykesville home in the 7400 block of Spout Hill Road. 

The fire in the three-story home caused around $50,000 in damage.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital with a possible ankle injury. No other injuries were reported. 

More than 75 firefighters from Howard County, Baltimore County and Carroll County responded to the scene.
