Report: Man Admits to Killing Coworker in Eldersburg Grocery Store Stabbing

A New York man pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing his coworker and roommate.

A man accused of fatally stabbing his roommate and coworker in an Eldersburg grocery store admitted to the slaying in court. His trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday, according to court records.

The Carroll County Times reports that 26-year-old Zamani Lawson pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter in the death of 22-year-old Bergari Zardiashuili at Martin's grocery store in Eldersburg in June.

Lawson and Zardiashuili, both from New York, were working a night shift as contract cleaning workers, according to previous reports.

Lawson was found in front of the store with blood on his shirt, and Zardiashuili was found in a storage area with several stab wounds in the torso, police said.

Lawson is scheduled to be sentenced in April.
