Man Charged After High Speed Chase

The man sped from police in a stolen truck before fleeing on foot.

Maryland State Police charged a man in a Finksburg burglary and truck theft early Monday following a high speed chase on Route 140 and through a neighborhood in Carroll County, according to a press release. 

In the early morning hours Monday, a Maryland State trooper on patrol encountered a suspicious vehicle with markings from a local tree service traveling eastbound on Route 140 in Finksburg. The vehicle was a 2007 Ford F250 pulling a trailer loaded with a stump grinder.

The trooper pulled the truck over but before the trooper could approach, it accelerated, according to police.

The trooper then pursued the truck and trailer at high speed on Route 140 into Baltimore County. The pursuit continued onto I-795 and exited the highway onto Nicodemus Road, traveling across Berrymans Lane and turning onto Esther Ann Way.

The truck and trailer then lost control and the trailer overturned. The suspect then fled on foot with Baltimore County Police patrol and K-9 units joining the pursuit.

Maryland State Police Aviation also responded.

The suspect was identified as Mark Joseph Kyle, 38 of the 300 block of Cheddington Road in Linthicum. He was apprehended in a front yard in the 1200 block of Nicodemus Road in Reisterstown.

Kyle was charged with numerous traffic violations, 4th degree burglary, malicious destruction of property, motor vehicle theft and additional theft charges. 

The truck had been stolen during a burglary at the Stansbury Tree Service located at 2148 Baltimore Boulevard in Finksburg, police said.
