Man Dies While Cutting Tree

A Westminster man died Saturday morning while assisting friends with tree trimming.

A man assisting friends with tree trimming died this morning after falling nearly ten feet at a Manchester home.

Sidney Wayne Diehl, 59, of Westminster was cutting branches off of the top of a large tree when the tree splintered, causing him to fall around 11 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

Although the harness stopped Diehl from hitting the ground, the tree continued to separate on top of him as he hung more than twenty feet over the ground.
