Man Arrested in Sykesville Home Invasion

Residents said they heard banging and glass was shattered, according to police.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an out-of-state man after a reported home invasion early Friday morning in Sykesville. 

According to a release sent by the department, residents on the 1700 block of Bennett Road awoke to loud banging at the front door at about 3:45 a.m. They went to a bedroom and called 911. They later heard glass breaking, then someone moving around in the home, according to the release. 

The residents stayed in the bedroom until deputies arrived. They arrested a 22-year-old man from New Jersey, according to the release.

He faces several burglary and theft charges.
