Update: Police Issue 'Silver Alert' for Missing 80-Year-Old Sykesville Man

Theodore Joseph VanLeeuwen left his home late Thursday morning.

Police said an 80-year-old Sykesville man who went missing Thursday morning was located in Washington, DC late Thursday night.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Department issued a Silver Alert for an 80-year-old man who left his Sykesville home late Thursday morning and never returned home.

At approximately 8 p.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office said they were notified by family that Theodore Joseph VanLeeuwen, 80, had left his Sykesville home for the pharmacy late Thursday morning, but had never arrived at the Walgreens in Eldersburg and had not returned home. 

VanLeeuwen is described as a white male approximately 5-foot-9, 130 pounds. Police said he was last seen wearing a grey cap, grey windbreaker, blue-grey slacks and white tennis shoes.

VanLeewan has medical conditions that require him to take medication and he did not have his evening dosage without those medicines awaiting him at the pharmacy, police report.  

VanLeeuwan was last seen operating a grey 2004 Kia Sodona minivan displaying MD registration 223M443. A look-out was given to local police departments and hospitals police said.
