Sheriff's Deputies and State Troopers from the Westminster Barracks responded to a house in the 1700 block of Strand Avenue around 12:45 p.m. Friday after receiving a 911 call from Lisa Harvey, police said.

Police arriving on the scene found Lisa Harvey in a neighbor's yard across the street from where the incident occurred, police said. She was being treated by paramedics at the time police arrived for what appeared to be multiple stab wounds and flown by Medevac to shock trauma, police said.

While paramedics attended to Lisa Harvey, authorities saw Douglas Harvey exit the rear of a van parked in the driveway of his home, according to police. He appeared to have multiple stab wounds, police said. He was taken to Carroll Hospital Center, but was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m., police said.

Investigators believe Lisa Harvey moved out of the home about a month ago, returning to the residence Friday with her 13-year-old-son to retrieve belongings.

After they arrived, an altercation took place outside of Lisa Harvey's vehicle between her and Douglas Harvey, police said. Her son remained inside the vehicle in the passenger seat, according to a press release.

Police said Douglas Harvey pulled out a knife and stabbed Lisa Harvey several times before stabbing himself multiple times and retreating to a van parked in the driveway.

Lisa then staggered across the street to a neighbor's yard, where she was able to call 911, police said.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading an investigation.
