Report: Sykesville Teen Sentenced in Gaither Market Robbery

The teen faces 18 months in the Carroll County Detention Center for the March armed robbery, according to the Carroll County Times.

A local teen was sentenced to 18 months in the Carroll County Detention Center Tuesday for the March armed robbery of a convenience store in Sykesville, according to an article by The Carroll County Times.

Joseph Page Schmier, 18, of the 7100 block of Jennifer Way in Sykesville, was sentenced on one count of armed robbery at a hearing in Carroll County Circuit Court, according to the article.

Schmier entered the the Gaither Market and Deli store located in the 7200 block of Gaither Road shortly before 9 p.m. on March 4, brandished a knife and demanded money, by Patch.

The teen is also a suspect in the in Eldersburg.

Troopers were called to Tuesday Morning, a store in the 1200 block of Liberty Road around 7 p.m. where a lone suspect had entered the store, threatening two employees with a knife and demanding money.

The two clerks handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of money from the two employees. He then assaulted one of the clerks before running away. The clerk suffered minor injuries.
