Sykesville Police Hold Junior CSI Academy
The Sykesville Police Department is offering its fourth annual academy for middle school children.
Middle-school aged children will have a chance to learn what it's like to investigate a crime scene at the Sykesville Police Department's fourth annual Junior CSI Academy.
Carroll County's Crime Scene Technician will give a presentation on the type of equipment at a crime scene and Corporal Lewis will instruct students on the procedures needed to investigate crime scenes, conduct grid searches and dust for fingerprints.
In addition, Pfc. Kurtz will share his knowledge on gang awareness and former Homicide Detective Earl Kratsch will instruct students on how important good crime scene investigation is to solve a murder.

The program runs June 1 through June 22 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. There is no cost and it is filled on a first come, first serve basis. Interested students need to fill out and return an application that can be found online here.
