Two Sykesville Teens in Serious Condition Following Car Crash

Speed and wet roadways were factors in the collision, according to Police.

Two Sykesville teens were listed in serious condition following a car crash in Lisbon late Wednesday, according to a Howard County Police press release. 

At 10:18 p.m. Wednesday, the driver of a 2011 Honda Accord was traveling at high rate of speed eastbound on Frederick Road at Bahner Court in Lisbon when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a telephone pole, rotated, struck a tree and overturned, according to police. 

The juvenile driver, a 17-year-old male from Sykesville, was transported to University of Maryland, Shock Trauma Center, in serious condition.

Police will not release his name due to the possibility of pending charges.  

The front seat passenger, Jesse Michael Byrd, 16, also of Sykesville, was also transported to Shock Trauma, where he is listed in serious condition.

Preliminary investigation revealed that speed and wet roadways were factors in the collision, according to the release.
