Westminster Man in Critical Condition After Workplace Fall (Updated 3:45 p.m.)

Jack Owen Hollis was transported to Shock Trauma Center Friday morning.

Update 3:45 p.m.: Jack Owen Hollis has been upgraded to stable condition according to a Carroll County Sheriff Department news release. Hollis woke up and has spoken with physicians and investigators. 

Original story: A Westminster man was transferred to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Friday morning following a workplace fall, according to a Carroll County Sheriff's Office press release. 

Jack Owen Hollis, 23, had allegedly been stacking wooden roof trusses onto a stacked pallet around 8:30 a.m. Friday in the warehouse complex at Shelter Systems Limited at 1025 Meadow Branch Road when one of the 35 pound trusses hit Hollis in the head, knocking him unconscious and forcing him to fall backwards, according to the release.

Hollis remains in critical condition, according to the release.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Administration are examining the events leading to the workplace accident.
