Westminster Police Public Information Officer Steps Down
Capt. Gerry Frischkorn announced Thursday that he will be departing the Westminster Police Department next week after three years of service.
Capt. Gerry Frischkorn will be vacating his position as commander of the Administrative Bureau of the Westminster Police Department effective next week.
Frischkorn announced his decision Sept. 29 in an e-mail to media outlets.
His last day in his position will be Friday, Oct. 7.

According to the city’s website, Frischkorn began his career with the Westminster Police Department in June of 2008. Before that he worked in Ocean City with the Maryland Police Department and with the Howard County Police Department, from which he retired in 2008 after nearly 30 years of service.
As one of his duties in Westminster, Frischkorn worked as a public information officer.

Those responsibilities are now being temporarily assumed by Maj. Ron Stevens, he stated in the e-mail. Stevens is the Westminster Police Department's deputy chief of police.
The city’s site states Frischkorn resides in West Friendship with his wife and two children.
In response to an e-mail inquiry, Frischkorn wrote that he is going into the private sector. He did not give a reason for his departure.
