It's official: With President Barack Obama's acceptance speech in Charlotte Thursday night, both the Republicans and Democrats have formally chosen their nominees for the 2012 presidential election. Let the real race begin.
A lot can change between now and Nov. 6: Gaffes, scandals or even major international news events could shift the dynamics of the campaign.
The latest Gallup Polls show registered voters preferring Obama to Mitt Romney by just one percentage point, 47 percent to 46 percent. A USA Today/Gallup poll taken just before the party conventions found American voters think Obama is more likeable, but trust Romney more to handle the economy.
Pundits have been busy for months handicapping the major-party candidates on various factors: incumbent advantage, fundraising clout, even religion.
Patch wants to know: Regardless of who you support for President, who do you think will actually claim victory in November?
Vote in our poll below, and let us know your thoughts in our comments section.
1.) He can either sign into law bills that the legislative branch passes, or he can veto. 2.) He has limited powers as Commander in Chief of the military. 3.) He has limited power to direct agencies that fall under the Executive branch. 4.) Executes treaties with foreign countries, that must be approved by the Senate And that's about it. What liberties (exactly) have you lost? And if you have lost any, really try to blame the Legislature. Come on, be specific... Raise your game a little...
http://1461days.blogspot.com/2009/01/current-list-of-president-obamas.html I especially love executive order #13575, maybe why O'Shameless signed the similar version of Plan Maryland?
Well, besides the ENTIRE document, why don't we begin with the list of chairpersons in section 3? Why don't you take each one, Just a Guy, and tell me what significance any of these chairpersons should partake in rural communities, farms and land, and why? After you're finished that, then please show everyone here, where is the authority in the Constitution for both state and federal government to push this on the citizens?
Treasury, money, maybe how to effectively use resources, like federal spending recommendations to the President so he can ask Congress to do something? Defense? We have bases in rural areas? I think so... Justice? Law enforcement and jails? Interior: It's in charge of rural... Use of federal land and interests... Commerce, Labor, HHS, Urban development, Transportation, ... All of them could effectively have inputs... Again what's your problem? You think they have a secret agenda? Really? Did you read section 4? The actual mission? Executive orders have been used since the 1780's. It is what it is.. If Congress doesn't like it, let them pass a law that reversing it. There is and are Executive privileges...
It's called checks and balances... All I know is I haven't lost any liberties. None!
a Democratic president with a Democratic Congress; a Republican president with a Democratic Congress; a Republican president with a Republican Congress; and a Democratic president with a Republican Congress. Taken together, these four periods exhaust all the ways power can be split between the two major parties in Washington. What did all these periods have in common? Government got bigger. That’s a problem, not because government is always bad, but because the proper functions of government do not require it to be very big. Government today is big not primarily because of waste or indolence, but because we have asked it to do too many things. And now, thanks to both Democrats and Republicans, the relentless growth of our government has brought us to financial calamitOur government can't pay its bills, but it won't stop borrowing or spending. As a result, the government is currently headed for insolvency. Our economy badly needs jobs and investment from the private sector, but instead of encouraging private enterprise our elected officials continue to concentrate power and money in Washington. We need to change course, and we need to do it now. The new course we should chart is not really new to people who know our history.
Force what??? WHAT PART got your panties in such a twist? And jeez, if it's SO UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!! why has it been going on since 1780 and almost 14,000 of them? Get over it. Or go live in Old Williamsburg and churn butter, and burn whale oil, since they didn't have electricity back then.
Joann seems to hate all government, but I bet she actually likes clean air and water, and having a cop or fire fighter when she really needs one... I wonder what she thinks Chief Executive means... Maybe she yearns for GW Bush being the Chief Decider...
