UPDATE: The school board meeting scheduled for Sunday morning has been postponed until Monday night at 5 p.m.
Original story: Due to the snowstorm, the Farmington Board of Education has postponed its budget review from Saturday to Sunday morning and change the start time of Monday's meeting. The first meeting will be held Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon and will resume Monday at 5 p.m. A third meeting will be held as scheduled Tuesday at 7 p.m. and an additional meeting will be Wednesday, if needed.
The annual budget workshop, which usually runs most of Saturday, includes a line by line review of the education budget. Generally the superintendent will give an overview of the budget, discuss and explain each section and the board will give preliminary approval.
After the board has been through the entire budget, members go back and look at any places in the budget they would like to suggest cuts or changes.
Though no agendas for the meetings are posted online, Superintendent Kathleen Greider in an email Friday said the agenda for Sunday’s meeting will include public comment, budget overview and review and executive session.
Greider's budget proposes an increase of 2.52 percent. Greider has proposed 9.7 new teaching positions be added throughout the district.
All meetings will be held in the Farmington High School library and members of the public are welcome to attend.
