Comptroller to Provide Free, Last-Minute Tax Services

All 12 of the state comptrollers' local branch offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Those who have waited until the last minute to file their taxes are in for a sweet deal -- the Maryland Comptrollers Office will provide free income tax return assistance and preparation from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at all 12 of its local branch offices.

  • Courthouse/Multiservice Center, 100 W. Patrick St. Room 2110, Frederick
  • Hampton Plaza,
300 E. Joppa Road, Plaza Level 1A, Towson
  • 301 W. Preston St., Room 206, Baltimore

Bring your W2s, 1099s and a completed federal return in exchange for the free service, according to the release.

Other tips:
    •    Free tax assistance is available at all of the agency's offices, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    •    Telephone assistance is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1-800-638-2937 or 410-260-7980.
    •    More hours are available on April 17, the tax-filing deadline, at all agency locations.
