County Offers Prescription Discount Card to Residents

There are no forms to file and no fees to pay to use the prescription discount card.

For seven years Carroll County government has offered county residents a prescription discount card that offers an average savings of more than 24 percent on prescriptions.

In November of 2005, the Board of County Commissioners launched the Carroll County Discount Prescription Drug Card Program offered by the National Association of Counties and Care Mark.

According to a Carroll County government news release, as of the end of September 2012, Carroll County residents have saved $2,625,393.46 and filled 170,312 prescriptions since the program's inception. 67,025 households have saved an average of 24.39% on their prescriptions.

The prescription discount card may be used by all county residents regardless of age, income, or existing coverage, underinsured, uninsured, seniors and young families and they are accepted by over 39 pharmacies in the county as well as mail order.

The card may also be used for pet prescriptions by obtaining a prescription from your veterinarian and taking it to a participating pharmacy.

Cards are available at each of the County’s library branches and senior centers, County office buildings, Department of Citizen Services, Carroll County Public Schools, the Department of Social Services, Human Services Programs, the Health Department, NACo website http://www.nacorx.org/ and each of the participating pharmacies.

There is no cost to get the card or for using the card and they may be used at any participating pharmacy in the United States.
