Dickenson Road Now Open In Eldersburg, Commissioners to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The road was opened a few years ago, but was never finished through Hemlock Drive.

The Carroll County Board of Commissioners will officially mark the opening of the finished construction on Dickenson Road in Eldersburg with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday.

The road, which connects Oklahoma Road and Hemlock Drive, is already open but will be officially recognized as complete during the ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16. The ceremony will take place at the intersection of Hemlock Drive and Dickenson Road.

A portion of Dickenson Road has been open for a few years, but the road was never finished through to Hemlock Drive. As a result drivers would frequently make dangerous left-hand turns from Liberty Road and drive through the small retail center parking lot, according to a county press release.

This summer the Commissioners directed their staff to have Dickenson Road completed the through to Hemlock Drive, allowing drivers to safely turn left onto Hemlock Drive and then right onto Dickenson Road.

"The completion of this project fulfills a commitment made by the last Board of Commissioners and will greatly benefit both the economic development and safety of our community," said Commissioner Doug Howard, District 5.
