POLL: Did Commissioners Waste Money on Redistricting Lawsuit?

The board of county commissioners withdrew its lawsuit challenging Gov. O'Malley's plan to redistrict Carroll County.

 

The lawsuit challenging Gov. Martin O’Malley’s legislative redistricting plan it was “duplicative of the others filed” and was not related to the motion in the Court of Appeals early this month to dismiss the suit, according to Carroll County officials.

The suit named commissioners Doug Howard, Richard Rothschild and Dave Roush and Dels. Susan Krebs, Donald Eliot and Nancy Stocksdale.

The lawsuit contended that parts of Carroll County won't be properly represented in the state under Gov. O'Malley's .

Commissioner Robin Bartlett-Frazier offered this  reaction.

“Finally wisdom prevails," Frazier said. "As the attorney general affirmed in the 'Memorandum in Support of Motion to Dismiss the Petition of J. Douglas Howard et al' that taxpayers' dollars should never have been used for a redistricting challenge.”
