POLL: Should the Carroll County Website Get an 'A' for Openness?

The Sunshine Review, a website that rates government websites for openness, recently updated their grade for the Carroll County site, giving it an  "A-," according to a county press release. 

The current grade was a "C-" in 2009, prior to the county's website re-design last year. At the commissioners' request the Sunshine Review recently reevaluated the website following the redesign.

"Since 2009, and especially since December of 2010 when this Board of Commissioners took office, the county has worked diligently to make the website informative and helpful and many of the things that were claimed to be missing have actually been available for years," read the release. 

According to the explanation by Sunshine Review, the county has 10 "good" components to the website, which helped to earn the "A-" rating. The only item listed under the "bad" soction, is the fact that the county website, "does not disclose if belongs to taxpayer-funded lobbying associations."

Carroll County and Montgomery County are the only two counties that received an "A-" ranking. Allegany County is the only county that ranked above the two counties, with an "A+" ranking.
