Sykesville Post Office to Reopen Jan. 15

New employees have been hired to run the facility.

The Old Main Line Visitor Center and Sykesville Post Office, 731 Oklahoma Ave., is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The Sykesville Post Office closed in early November after long-time manager Jean Maher was fired, according to an Explore Carroll article. Several days later, the remaining three post office employees resigned in protest to Maher's dismissal, the article reports.

With no employees, the post office closed and a heated debate involving Sykesville Mayor Mike Miller, the Town Council and the community ensued. Read more information about the issue and related Town Council meetings on sykesvilleonline.com/blog.
