Parking time limit in public lots could be increased and snow removal may be required of area residents.

Parking Time Limit in Public Lots May Be Increased

An unofficial count of the parking spots found discovered that at certain times there were parking problems while others there were not. Issues with parking were found between the hours 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. At other times there were more than 75 spaces available.

The ordinance was introduced Monday night for the increase after debate at the town retreat. Following Monday's meeting, an extensive discussion regarding the time limit in public lots took place at the Town Council Retreat on March 5. The Town Council voted to continue this discussion and, if agreed on, asked that a draft code amendment be prepared that would increase the time limit for parking from 16 to 72 hours.

The Town Council will introduce the code amendment at the March 28 meeting and hold a public hearing on April 11.

Residents May Be Required to Clear Sidewalks

A code amendment introduced at the Feb. 28 meeting was extended for further research Monday in hopes of keeping area sidewalks under repair. Residents may be required to remove snow from their properties within 24 hours of the end of snowstorms in addition to repairing sidewalks when necessary.
