There's A New Face Introducing Carroll County To Visitors

JoAnna Crone named new Carroll County Tourism Manager.

When tourists come through the rolling hills of Carroll County this holiday season, they will find events and activities planned by the newest addition to the county's tourism team. JoAnna Crone was appointed as Tourism Manager for the Carroll County Department of Tourism on Oct. 14 after serving as the Interim Tourism Manager since Barbara Beverungen retired from the position in July.

Crone is a native of Carroll County who grew up in Hampstead and currently lives in Silver Run. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Arts History and Pre-Museum Studies from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, graduating Magna cum-laude. She continued her education receiving her Master of Arts in Art Administration from Goucher College this past August.

Crone has worked for the Carroll County Government for the past seven years, making her mark in almost every office including the Carroll County Farm Museum and the Carroll County Visitor's Center. Prior to 2003, she was employed at the Historical Society of Carroll County and the SERRV International Gift Shop.

She brings her experience to her new post, working to bring new programs to the already successful Tourism Department.

"Over the next few months I will be assessing Carroll County's past tourism efforts and planning ways to build on its strengths," says Crone. "I am looking forward to developing creative ways to promote all of the wonderful attractions in my home county to both visitors and residents."

Crone recently completed the Calendar of Events for 2011, which will be ready for distribution by mid to late December. Events headlining the calendar center around the 150th anniversary of the Civil War with Carroll County's official host year for the sesquicentennial celebration being 2013.
