"During the first two weeks of school the children crafted beaded necklaces and masks. They also read picture books about the festival, danced with traditional raffia skirts, and learned to count to ten in Twi, the native language of one student's Ghanian father."

On the night of the festival, talented dancers and musicians from Baile's African Drum Works performed for the families and friends at Ava Wanas. The performances were followed by a potluck dinner.
