Board of Ed Notes: Meetings, Recognition, Citizen Input

Items of note from the Carroll County Public Schools.

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, members of the board of education will meet at 9:30 a.m. with state delegates. At 1 p.m. there will be an administrative board meeting. The public is welcome to attend although there will be no citizen participation at these meetings. Agenda materials can be found on the Carroll County Public Schools website.

Board Seeking Input on Proposed 2012-2013 School Calendar

The Superintendent and Board of Education are seeking feedback from the community on the proposed 2012-2013 Carroll County Public Schools student calendar. The proposed calendar is available for review on the CCPS website at www.carrollk12.org. Parents, students, community members, and employees who wish to provide input are encouraged to complete the online survey.

Custodial and Maintenance Personnel Recognition Day

Today, Tuesday, Sept. 20 is Custodial and Maintenance Personnel Recognition Day. According to the Carroll County Public Schools website, Plant Operations is comprised of approximately 270 custodial staff responsible for all activities and costs associated with keeping facilities open, comfortable, and safe for use. 

They are the people who physically clean and sanitize buildings and make sure students and staff have heat, air conditioning, and drinking water. Custodial staff are responsible for cleaning approximately 20,000 square feet per custodian per night. They make sure that students have an environment that is clean and conducive to learning.

Carroll County Special Education Citizen’s Advisory Council

The Carroll County Public School System’s Special Education Citizen’s Advisory Council will hold its first quarterly meeting of the 2011-2012 school year on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. until noon.

The meeting will be held at the Carroll County Non-Profit Building, located at 255 Clifton Boulevard in Westminster.   

Information will be shared on the following topics: social skills, presentation on SEFEL, and planning for Inclusive Schools Week. If you need additional information, contact Mr. Russell Gray, Director of Special Education, at 410-751-3079.
