Carroll County Graduation Rate for 2011 Highest in Maryland

Maryland's High School graduation rate jumped to its highest recorded rate for the Class of 2011, according to data released Friday.

Carroll County tops the list for the highest rate of students graduating from high school, according to data released Friday by the Maryland State Department of Education.

The state of Maryland hit a record high this year, with Maryland’s graduation rate reaching 87 percent in 2011, up from 86.5 percent in 2010 and 85.2 percent in 2009.

The graduation rate for Carroll County is at 95 percent in 2011, the same as the past two years and up from 93.8 percent in 2007.

, , and high schools all had a 95 percent graduation rate for the Class of 2011. Century High School's graduation rate has never dropped below 95 percent, according to the website.

Howard County comes in second for the highest graduation rate at 94.3 percent followed by Frederick and Worcester counties at 93.9 percent.

Baltimore County's graduation rate for the Class of 2011 was 83.1 percent while Baltimore City's rate was 71.9 percent.
