Carroll County Public School Emergency Closing Days

Carroll County Public Schools have closed three times so far this school year.

So far, Carroll County Public Schools has used three emergency closing days this school year. Five emergency closing days are built into the school system calendar, according to a CCPS spokesperson.

CCPS Supervisor of Community and Media Relations Carey Gaddis told Patch that schools were closed on Oct. 29 and 30 for Hurricane Sandy and Feb. 1 for snow.

The number of emergency closing days used determines the last day of school. If no more emergency closing days are used this year, Gaddis said the last day of school for students will be Monday, June 10. If we use one more emergency day the last day for students will be Tuesday, June 11 and if we use all five emergency days, the last day for students will be Wednesday, June 12.

The day immediately following the last student day will serve as a professional day for teachers.

If further emergency days are required, the Board of Education will request a waiver from the State Board of Education and if not granted, the school year will be extended Gaddis said.

So the last day of school is always a half day...and right now it's Monday the 10th...how many kids will honestly be there that day? :)
