Carroll Teachers Receive International Awards of Excellence for Technology Education

Two teachers from Carroll County Public Schools received international awards of excellence at the 75th Annual International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) Conference held in Columbus, Ohio.

These awards are among the highest honors given to Technology and Engineering Education classroom teachers and are presented in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the profession and their students.

James Deitrich from Liberty High School received the ITEEA 2013 Teacher Excellence Award. He was one of 26 teachers recognized internationally for his outstanding contributions to the profession and his students.

Deitrich has been teaching technology education in Carroll County for more than 16 years.  During this time, he has contributed to state and national curriculum development and is a trainer for the ITEEA Foundations of Technology curriculum.  

Travis Blizzard from Shiloh Middle School received the ITEEA 2013 Program Excellence Award. Shiloh was one of 26 Technology Education programs recognized internationally at the conference.

Blizzard has worked with the academic teams at Shiloh to integrate trans-disciplinary lessons that support the MSAs and the transition to the Common Core in his program. Shiloh Middle School has piloted for Carroll County and been the lead resource for the implementation of the ITEEA’s Engineering by Design middle school online assessments and curriculum.
