Comcast Honors Local Students for Leadership

Five local students where honored with Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarships.

On March 22, Interim State Superintendent of Schools Bernard J. Sadusky and other government officials joined Comcast at a special event held at the Historic Inns of Annapolis to recognize the Maryland recipients this year. 

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers program, one of the Comcast Foundation’s signature community investment programs, recognizes students’ leadership skills, academic achievement and commitment to community service.  This year, Comcast is awarding $109,000 in scholarships to Maryland high school seniors.

The local honorees are:

  • Sykesville resident Rachel Kurtz of McDonogh School in Owings Mills.

Rachel has also been selected as a Presidential Fellow as well as a John S. Toll Apprentice/Fellowship for Science and Mathematics at Washington College, Chestertown, MD (Class of 2012-2013).

Rachel previously earned the Girl Scout Gold Award.
