Eldersburg Elementary Students Win Environmental Health Poster Contest

The Environmental Health Bureau of the Carroll County Health Department announced its 2011 poster contest winners.

The Environmental Health Bureau of the Carroll County Health Department announced the winners in its 25th annual poster contest for 4th grade Carroll County students. 

A total of 93 posters were entered in the contest from three different schools.  Winners of this year’s contest are all students from .

This year’s theme, “Take the Barrel Out of Carroll” focused on alternative ways of disposing of trash and unwanted items, instead of burning them. The contest is sponsored annually by the Bureau of Environmental Health and the Carroll County Association of Realtors, Inc.

The winners from Eldersburg Elementary are as follows:

  • 1st place was Nicholas Simon who received an electric scooter and a helmet.
  • 2nd place was Lynn Lee, who received a $50 gift card. 
  • 3rd place was Delaney Putt, who received a $25 gift card.   

The school was awarded $400 in cash prizes to enhance their school’s science program.

Representatives of the Health Department and Carroll County Board of Realtors visited Eldersburg Elementary School June 10 to present the prizes to the students and their teachers: Ms. Nicole Harris, Ms. Joanna Allen, Ms. Jeanne Hersh, Ms. Wendy McGlannan, and Ms. Amy Mullinix, and to the school.  

The 1st place winning poster is framed and displayed in the Environmental Health hallway of the Carroll County Health Department along with a plaque including the name of the student and school.
