Friendship School Investigation Leaves Questions Unanswered

The school's website states classes started Wednesday.

The in Eldersburg did not show any signs of the typical first day of school Wednesday. No cars, students or lights appeared from the outside and no phone calls or e-mails were returned. 

The school's new website, launched Aug. 26, states that the first day of school was Wednesday, Aug. 31. 

After several calls and e-mails to Patch from local residents asking about the status of the school, reporters visited the school and attempted to contact the staff and head of the school. Multiple calls and e-mails were not returned.

A Patch reporter visited the school premises Thursday to ask if the school was moving or if the start of school was delayed. 

The reporter was asked to leave and escorted off the premises. A man standing at the door said "no comment" and a female voice from inside the building instructed the man to escort the reporter to her car.

While visiting the building there were no children visible, the building was dark and there was a blue trailer parked out front. 

The school's newly designed and recently launched website does not include a list of staff members and does not allow user comments. 

The Friendship School received at least two grants this summer for the upcoming school year, including a  and a .

The Friendship school, located in Eldersburg, is a private, non-profit facility for students with dyslexia.
