New Liberty High School Dance Policy In Effect This Fall

Students wanting to participate in prom and homecoming must qualify, according to new guidelines.

Starting in the fall, students wishing to attend homecoming, prom and senior activities at Liberty High School must have the grades and behavior to get through the door.

Beginning with the 2011-2012 school year, students will not be allowed to purchase tickets or participate in homecoming, prom or senior activities if they do not have 90 percent attendance or better, are academically ineligible, or if they have any outstanding obligations.

"Participation in these events is a privilege, and students must understand that their responsibilities to the school, academics, attendance and use of school resources must come first," read a note printed in the July student newsletter.

What are your thoughts on the new policy? Is this something more schools should have in place, or should every student be able to attend regardless of academics and attendance?
