Play Time: Ravens Promote Healthy Living with Carroll County Kids (Video)

A handful of Ravens players and cheerleaders spent Tuesday morning with kids from Sandymount Elementary.

The gym, packed with hundreds of elementary school students and faculty, erupted with screams and applause Tuesday morning when several Baltimore Ravens unexpectedly appeared on stage.

Ravens Haloti Ngata, Ray Rice, Ricky Williams, Sam Koch and Tandon Doss, participating in the NFL Play60 program, spent time answering questions and talking to students about nutrition and exercise.

The NFL Play 60 program, which is designed to promote healthy and active lifestyles among today’s youth, will be held in 26 Carroll County elementary schools from Oct. 3-16, according to a news release from Carroll County Public Schools.

The Ravens and the Carroll County Public Schools health and physical education departments will encourage elementary school students to engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day for a period of two weeks. Students will track their activity throughout the course of the program with provided daily activity logs, with parents and staff members also encouraged to participate as role models.
