South Carroll Robotics Team Places 2nd in State Championship

The RoboCavs narrowly missed qualifying for the national FTC Robotics Championship.

The South Carroll High School RoboCavs finished second out of the best 32 teams in the state at the FTC Robotics State Championship, held on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.

According to a public schools news release, after sweeping the five qualifying matches to begin the tournament, the RoboCavs entered the semifinals in first place.  After easily winning their first two matches in a best of three semifinal round, the first year, "rookie" Cavaliers were the statistical, if not emotional, favorites for winning the state title.

After two hard fought matches, the Cavaliers ended their day in second place, losing only to a six-year veteran team of the competition, earning the Finalist award and narrowly missing an invitation to the national FTC Robotics Championship according to the news release.
