Basketball Score Roundup

Local high schools hit the paint this week in heated contests.

Tuesday night saw Century, Liberty and South Carroll teams in action.

Boys Basketball

Century took part of county foe, Manchester Valley 63-48 at home.

The Knights were led by Brandon Soderstrom and Dan Virbickis with 11 points each. Teammates Evan Fritsche pumped in 10 points, Chris Tan added nine and Mitch Seight eight.

Century is 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the county. The Mavericks are 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the county.

Century downed Manchester Valley 55 to 33 in junior varsity action.

Liberty lost in a county match-up to Francis Scott Key 68-48.

The Lions fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the county. The Eagles are 1-2 and 1-0 in the county.

Liberty was led by Collin Orf with 12 points followed by Simon Rudow with 11, James Fencil 10, Steve Seeley 10, Kyle Farson 3 and Kevin Price 2.

The Lions host Century Friday night in a doubleheader. The girls tip-off at 5:30 and the boys at 7.

Liberty captured the junior varsity game 53-45. The Lions host the Century junior varsity Thursday in a doubleheader. Like the varsity, the girls tip-off at 5:30 and the boys at 7.

Girls Basketball

South Carroll took care of Westminster in a low scoring contest, 39-36.

The Cavaliers improved to 3-0 for the season and 1-0 in the county. The Owls are 1-2 and fall to 0-1 in the county.

Scoring for South Carroll was Erin Quinn, 10; Olivia Kelly eight; Kimmy Delonge, seven; Erin Slifer, seven; Nikki Heim, five and Stacie Maring, two.

Westminster edged South Carroll 38-36 in junior varsity action.

South Carroll is home Friday against Manchester Valley. The junior varsity takes the court at 5:30 followed by the varsity at 7.
