The team remains undefeated after a lopsided win over Oakdale.

Century blew past visiting Oakdale 22-4 on senior night in girls lacrosse.

The Knights remain undefeated as they moved their record to 10-0 overall. They are 4-0 in the county.

Two of the seniors paced the Knights to victory as Alice Mercer scored seven goals, and Angela Flister found the net for four goals and seven assists. Junior Haley Bordner had five goals and three assists while teammates Kailey Wolfe and Tori Wright each had two goals. Also scoring was Alexa McGovern and Sky Hyatt.

Oakdale scored first in the game at the 24:12 mark and it took the home team eight minutes before the knotted the score at 1-1. Century coach Becky Groves called a timeout to talk with the Knights.

"They didn’t want me to take another time-out, and senior night was over and we needed to start playing," Groves said. "Senior night is always an emotional time, and I think sometimes it runs into the game for the first five minutes.

"We have had it happen several years before and we just needed to buckle down and play lacrosse. We love our seniors, but we have to play lacrosse.’’

The Knights came back scoring and led 10-2 at halftime.

Four minutes into the second half, Century jumped out to a 10 goal lead for a running clock.

Our heads were up," Groves said. "We were challenging and made the defense turn their heads to the ball, and then we had some really good cutters and finishers. We did that well today.

"We have things to improve on because we are going to the bulk of our schedule with North Carroll, Winters Mill, Westminster and McDonogh left, so its going to be really tough games from here on out."

In other action, South Carroll topped Howard in boys' lacrosse 9-6, while the girls fell to Howard 15-10. Dylan McDermott led the Cavaliers in the win with three goals.
