Century Opens Boys Lacrosse Playoffs With Big Win

The Knights topped South Hagerstown 22-1 Thursday night.

Century opened the Class 3A-2A West region with a 22-1 romp over visiting South Hagerstown Thursday evening.

The Knights advance to play at Damascus. Century improves their record to 6-9. The Rebels ended the season 0-13. South Hagerstown was seeded seventh, while Century was 10th. 

"When you get in a situation like this what you are primarily looking for is execution. Because not every game we are going to see from here on out is going to be like this. Because our defense in practice knows what we call on offense, what we are going to run. So they cheat. But these guys don’t have that opportunity. It gives us a chance to work on timing and gives us a chance to work on looks and things like that,’’ said coach Jim Langrall.

Century had 12 different players score in the game. Leading the way was senior attack Jordan Bender with four goals and nine assists. Joe Trombetta, Jack Rogness, Brady Sipes, Camden Belino, Kareem Morsi and C. J. O’Brien each had two goals. Also scoring was Nick Davis, Jake Miske, Dylan Lopez, Jordan Fetterman and Ryder Cavey.

The Rebel lone goal was scored by Troy McGee.

After Fetterman scored with 9:11 left in the third quarter the game was played with a running clock.
