High School Sports: Century Blanks South Carroll in Field Hockey

The Knights improve to 4-0 with victory over the Cavaliers Monday night.

has shut out all of their opponents so far this season reaming unscored on in their fourth game Monday against host , winning 5-0.

Allison Remenapp paced the Knights with two goals and two assists. Also scoring for Century was Mandi Trostle, Taylor Malanik and Alice Mercer. Casey McCorkell had two assists and Mercer one.

Century has scored five or more goals in each of their wins as they improved to 2-0 in the county and 4-0 overall. South Carroll is 0-2 in the county and 1-3 overall.

Trostle got the visitors on the board with a goal with 21:36 remaining in the first half. The Knights had a 2-0 lead at the half as Remenapp scored with 5:02 left in the first 30 minutes of play.

Remenapp scored again about seven minutes into the second half and a minute later Malanik scored. Mercer found the goal with 6:05 remaining in the game. With a five goal lead, there was a running clock the rest of the game.

Kailey Wolfe was kept off the scoreboard and her coach expects that to happen. "She is going to be marked up, so we to need to make sure someone else is finishing," said Century coach Terry Duryea.

Century took 21 shot corners in the contest compared to three for the Cavaliers. The Knights had 22 shots in the game and none for South Carroll. The Cavalier goalies made 14 saves in the game.

"We can’t capitalize on our offensive opportunies," said South Carroll coach Ashley Boumel. "We are having a hard time capitalize on them and pulling the trigger when we need to pull the trigger. But I think over the past three weeks, have really come together as a team and we a re playing a whole lot better. Even through we lost 5-0 tonight, we have still worked hard."

Century has two county games on the schedule this week with Winters Mill Tuesday and North Carroll at the end of the week. "We have only played two county teams," said Duryea.

South Carroll is also facing a county schedule this week. "We have Liberty tomorrow and Westminster Thursday, so we are on a roll," said Boumel.
