Liberty faced a tough week, as they played Westminster earlier in the week in a game stopped by lightning. They were to play Century yesterday, but the game was moved to Friday and today the Lions travel to Winters Mill.

Century was to play undefeated Manchester Valley earlier in the week, but the game was postponed. That game is to be played at 12:15 today.

The Knights haven’t played in eight days.

"We had a long time to prepare. I had been here before and saw their strengths and weakness. We face guarded Maggie McCormick and Chelsea (Proudlock) did a fantastic job and we were very aware of their offense strengths and I think we did a good job tonight," said Century coach Becky Trumbo.

If the Liberty players have problems sleeping Friday night it could be due to Century senior Jill Remenapp. She scored five goals and handed out six assists. Teammate Angela Flister was on the receiving end of a few of those assists, as she also scored five times.

"She just sees the field very, very well. She is a huge assist to our team. She can score, she can pass, she can defend, she does it all,’’ Trumbo said of Jill Remenapp.

The Knights kept tight defense on Liberty’s top scorer, Maggie McCormick. She scored two goals in the game and they came in the final two minutes of the contest.

Amanda Legar led the Lions with three goals. Jenna Crutchfield scored the other goal for the home squad.

"This was beautiful weather compared to what we have been through. But I thought we did a really good job of getting the draw," said Jill Remenapp about the windy and cold weather.

Century had six players score in the game. Besides Remenapp and Flsiter, Haley Bordner netted three, Kailey Wolfe amd Alice Mercer had two each and Alexa McGovern had one.

Century was up 7-2 when Legar scored her final goal with 7:44 remaining in the first half. Century scored six goals to close of the half and take a 13-3 lead at the half.

Liberty was losing draws to Century as they did in the Westminster game earlier in the week. "There is no special trick to winning draws. It’s going hard, having heart and wanting to get the ground ball," said Lion coach Kristen Crutchfield.

Allison Remenapp had seven saves for the victors, when her counterpart, Schylar Healy stopped 13 shots for Liberty.

"Lacking in intensity, willpower, want," Crutchfield said about the game.

Century also took the junior varsity game, 14-3.

Both teams are back in action today, weather permitting.
