"We came out real flat," said Century coach Jim Holzman. "We are not a good enough football team to come out flat and beat anybody. FSK played a really tough game. In a lot of ways they deserved to win this game but we made just enough plays in the second half to win."

The other big part of the game was the Century defense. Three times Francis Scott Key got inside the 10-yard line and came away with no points. The Eagles have yet to score in the first four games of the season.

Century’s Logan Ryder blocked an Eagle field goal attempt and a punt in the first half. Mike Capparelli stopped another Key drive with an interception on the five yard line.

"Defensively, we held them to a shutout which was good, but offensively we were just looked sloppy and turnovers. We got a lot to improve on. They played a very good football game. It was a good game," said Holzman.

Century opened the county football season with the victory which also evened their overall mark at 2-2.

The Knights host Winters Mill next Friday at 7 p.m.
